SILENT FINISSAGE of REFUGE/SILENCE
at the ARIANA MUSEUM, GENEVA (CH), April 5, 2020.
Dear friends of the museum,
Dear Anne-Claire, Isabelle, dear team,
Who could have imagined in September last year that 'Refuge/Silence' would get the meaning that it has today? At that time the silent refuge referred to the private safe place that the studio is.
How strange that exactly now we are all sitting at home protecting ourselves in a frightening time of pandemic.
Once again it is clear to me that the studio stays the best place to be at in psychological and physical troubled moments.
While working on my sculptures I can experience the whole Universe without putting one step outside.
Thank God, that I have this atelier as part of my house.
To be honest the lockdown does not change my personal life a lot. I can even say that my concentration is higher than ever while it is so quiet outside.
Yesterday when I was thinking about ‘Waterfall’ - the female sculpture I presented in the Ariana Museum, I suddenly understood that this figure has been a new and important start for me.
What is more effective in these uncertain times than the symbol for the Female (Mother) and the endless stream of living Water.
I am sure that after this show more Waterfalls will be made. Lets say it is a hommage to love and the mystical force of nature.
Let the language of symbols be protected by the Monks of the 21th century!
I thank you all very much for the support and the working together in a pleasant and fascinating way, it must be said; The Ariana Museum is a refuge of positive energy.
Please continue the good work.
I would like to finish with the words of my friend Till Lindemann:
WIR ÜBERLEBEN DAS LICHT.

Through his evocative and masterful works, Johan Tahon invites you to experience the delicate balance between nature, emotion, and the passage of time. His sculptures promise to stir deep reflection and awe, offering a unique glimpse into his artistic journey and the intricate layers of the human experience.
At the heart of Fingertips is the tactile, sensual act of sculpting—each piece molded directly by the artist’s hands, engaging in a quiet yet powerful dance between maker and medium. These works, formed from both clay and ice, bear the imprints of the artist’s fingers, leaving traces of his emotional connection to the material. The act of creation becomes an expression of feeling, an exploration of presence, vulnerability, and transformation.
